The fare for single ticket journey in AC local will be on the lines of Mumbai Metro run by MMRDA, it has almost been decided. The decision was taken in a meeting between Mumbai Rail Vikas Nigam (MRVC) and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. An official said that 238 rakes to be procured by MRVC will be of AC local only. That is, in future all local trains will be AC ​​only.

Semi AC local in trouble
In a recent survey, 80 percent of Mumbaikars were ready for semi AC local in some form or the other. However, 238 AC rakes have also got in-principle approval. This means that now there is no clarity about semi AC local. Earlier there was talk of removing the first class coach in the semi AC local. But it is not possible to do this in the current rake.

For the time being the second class will remain
The life span of local trains that run in Mumbai is 25 years. The rakes that are running now can run till 2040. Railway official said that the local whose life will end, AC local will come in its place.
