Shivsena Prabhadevi Rada : After the rebellion in Shivsena led by Eknath Shinde, there was tension between Shivsena and Shinde group. The clash was averted after Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray ordered the Shiv Sainiks to remain calm. After Prabhadevi Rada, department head Mahesh Sawant (Mahesh Sawant) was seen to be on the target of Shinde group. Mahesh Sawant was once known as a staunch supporter of MLA Sada Sarvankar. Mahesh Sawant is an old Shiv Sainik from Prabhadevi. The area of Prabhadevi, Dadar, Paral is considered as the stronghold of Shiv Sena. When the mills were booming, the area was once dominated by communists. However, over time the influence of Shiv Sena increased in this area. There is a large population of Marathi people in this area. Mahesh Sawant’s father was also in Shiv Sena. Influenced by his father, Mahesh Sawant started working actively in Shiv Sena since 1990. Shiv Sena used to participate in agitations and social activities in the department. Thanks to him, Mahesh Sawant created good public relations in the area.
Always staunch supporter of Saravankar
MLA Sada Saravankar, currently in the Shinde group, had a grip on the Prabhadevi area. Sada Saravankar was elected as a corporator three times. Mahesh Sawant was always known as a staunch supporter of Saravankar. In the year 2009, Sada Saravankar defeated the Shiv Sena Maharashtra and took the hand of the Congress by responding to the call of Narayan Rane. Mahesh Sawant was also included in the small congregation that accompanied Sada Saravankar. When Sada Saravankar rejoined the Shiv Sena after a few years, Mahesh Sawant also returned to the Shiv Sena.
Opponent of Saravankar
There was a rift between Sada Saravankar and Mahesh Sawant around 2017. Sal Sawant had in mind that despite working for the party, he was being left out in the municipal elections. In the 2017 Mumbai Municipal Elections, Sada Saravankar got his son Saadhan Saravankar nominated by the party. After that, Mahesh Sawant decided to contest the elections as an independent candidate calling for rebellion. There was talk that he got an offer from BJP too. However, he rejected this offer. During this municipal election, tension arose between Saravankar and Sawant. Shiv Sena candidate Saadhan Saravankar got 8623 votes in the municipal elections. Independent candidate Mahesh Sawant got 8364 votes. Sawant returned to Shiv Sena after this municipal election. After Sada Saravankar joined the Shinde group, Shiv Sena gave Sawant the responsibility of the department head. So now everyone’s attention is on the upcoming Mumbai Municipal Election.
