Raju Shetti : Raju Shetty moves Bombay High Court to protect cow livestock from lumpy skin disease

Raju Shetti : Lumpy Skin Disease, which is spreading rapidly among livestock in the state, has scared the farmers. The disease has spread to more than 22 districts including Kolhapur district. In this background, former MP Raju Shetty, president of Swabhimani Farmers’ Association, as well as Ahmednagar’s social activists Arshad Sheikh, farmers Sampatrao Pawar, Sarpanch Tejas Ghule Patil advocated for farmers. Asim Sarode, Adv. Trinal Tonpe, Adv. Ajit Deshpande, Adv. Invincible flight, adv. A Public Interest Litigation has been filed in Bombay High Court through Akshay Desai. 

In this petition Maharashtra State Animal Husbandry Dairy Development Fisheries Department, Animal Husbandry Commissionerate, Indian Veterinary Research Institute Pune, Maharashtra State Veterinary Medical Council, National Institute of Virology Pune, Maharashtra Government has been made the respondent.

Veterinarians with certificates and diplomas along with BVSc in Veterinary Science are called ‘lumpy disease warriors’ Therefore, rights, facilities and protection should be provided, necessary changes should be made in the course of Diploma in Veterinary Education and their services should be ‘lumpy’ Remedies for illness should be considered in plans, ‘lumpy’ One and a half lakh rupees compensation should be given for each cow and cattle that died due to disease, ‘Lumpi’ In the wake of the disease, the government should take steps to ensure that the prices of milk and milk products are affordable for the common people.

Health emergencies from an animal perspective

Talking about this, petitioner Raju Shetty said that mere announcement of huge amount of money or compensation scheme is not the answer to this question. The current situation is a health emergency from an animal perspective. Therefore, it is necessary for the government to make its entire system work in a planned manner. But sadly, how to vaccinate sick cows? There is no clear policy of the government as to what are the measures to protect all pets in the state from lumpy disease and how vaccination will be made universal.
