Pune Power Cut: Repair of ‘Power Grid’ channels completed;  Restoration of power supply to Chakan MIDC along with Pune, Pimpri city

Pune Power Cut : Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Pune Power Cut ) There was a sudden technical failure in two of the four power lines from Ultra High Voltage 400 KV Shikrapur to Talegaon at 7:10 pm on Thursday (May 18). Due to this, the power supply of around 3 lakh 55 thousand consumers in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad cities along with Chakan MIDC was interrupted. After the repair of these high voltage power lines was completed, power supply was restored to all consumers in a phased manner from 1 am to 8:55 am on Friday.

Meanwhile, due to this technical failure, Mahapareshan’s extra high pressure substation was shut down and load management was not possible. Therefore, from 10 pm to 3 am on Thursday, electricity load had to be regulated for one hour in Kothrud, SNDT, Aundh, Baner, Shivajinagar, Balewadi, Bawdhan, Model Colony, Pashan etc.  

In this regard, two out of four channels of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited’s Shikrapur to Talegaon ultra-high voltage 400 KV power lines experienced a technical failure at 7:10 pm on Thursday. During the inspection, it was found that one of the high pressure pipes broke and fell on another pipe near Karanjavihere village near Talegaon. After that, Adani Company and Mahapareshan’s engineers and employees jointly started the repair work of this power line on a war footing.  

Power supply cut to 3 lakh 55 thousand customers

However, due to this fault, power supply was interrupted to 400 KV Chakan, 220 KV Chinchwad, 220 KV Urse, 220 KV Chakan, 132 KV Chakan, 132 KV Kharadi substations of Mahapareshan Company. As many as 396 megawatts of electricity transmission was stopped. As a result Pune in the city mainly Kharadi, Vadgaon Sheri, Vimannagar, Yerwada, Dhanori as well as Pimpri village, Chinchwad, Punawale, Valhekarwadi, Wakad, Tathawade, Kiwale, Ravet, Thergaon area, the entire authority and 50 percent of Akurdi in total 3 lakh Power supply of 55 thousand customers was interrupted. Along with this, the electricity supply of about 5 thousand industrial consumers of high and low voltage in Chakan MIDC was stopped.

Power restored around 9 am

All senior engineers of Mahapareshan and Mahavitaran were in constant touch with each other. On the one hand, efforts are being made to provide relief to electricity consumers through load management in the adverse situation of increased electricity demand due to summer and stopped transmission of 396 MW electricity due to technical failure. In this, power supply was gradually restored at around midnight. As Mahapareshan and Mahavitraan sub-centres started gradually, the electricity supply to consumers also became smooth. As of 8:55 am today, power supply has been restored to all customers affected by power grid outages.
