PCMC News : Hundreds of buildings dangerous in Pimpri-Chinchwad; Municipality sent notices to the owners

PCMC News : in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad city has many old palaces and old buildings. These buildings are now in a state of collapse. Every year during the rainy season accidents occur due to the collapse of old and dangerous buildings. In the background of this monsoon, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has started paying attention to dangerous buildings. It has been revealed that as many as 125 buildings in the city are in a dangerous condition. The Municipal Corporation has issued notices to the owners of this dangerous building. Interestingly, the municipality has taken notice of the repair after the tenant citizens living there gave a notice regarding the repair. On behalf of the ward level offices of the Municipal Corporation, notices have been issued regarding dangerous buildings in the municipal premises.

In case of increased storm and rain during monsoon, a part of such a dangerous building or the building itself may collapse. Therefore, the dangerous building should be repaired to remove the danger to the lives of the citizens and possible loss of life. Also, an appeal has been made on behalf of the municipal corporation to remove such buildings.

If a building or its part is dangerous or in a state of collapse, it has been informed by the municipality that written information should be given to the municipal corporation. He has also appealed that such buildings will be inspected and measures taken to remove the danger or if a building or part of a building accidentally collapses, the information of the accident should be reported to the Municipal Corporation on telephone numbers 27425511 and 67333333.

Under Section 265 of the Municipal Act, the building owner is responsible for the security of the building. Whether the building is in good condition, is there any danger to the building? It is necessary to inspect it by expert engineers and take necessary measures in time. Officials have said that if they do not do so and any accident occurs, legal action will be taken on behalf of the municipal corporation by holding the building owner responsible.

When old buildings are inspected, instead of staying in dangerous buildings during monsoons, it would be better if citizens make arrangements to stay elsewhere. It has been said by the Municipal Corporation that the application from the owner or tenant for the repair of such buildings will be considered on priority. Once monsoons begin, old buildings become dangerous and the lives of citizens living in and around such buildings become a threat. Old buildings will be inspected on behalf of the municipal corporation to avoid that.
