Navi Mumbai News: Vashi’s first pedestrian bridge will be ready by the end of June, people will get rid of traffic jam
Mumbai: The people of Vashi will soon be able to get rid of traffic jams. Pedestrians will get a lot of relief from this. In view of the accidents and traffic problems while crossing the road in Vashi, the construction work of this pedestrian bridge has been started by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. The construction work of this first pedestrian bridge to be built in Vashi Sector 9 is going on fast, which will be completed by the end of June. This information was given by city engineer Sanjay Desai. While building Navi Mumbai, CIDCO first started development from Vashi node itself.

However, at that time the CIDCO administration was somewhat unsuccessful in anticipating the increasing population and number of vehicles during the next few years. From Vashi Sector 1 to Sector 28, there is a long traffic jam on one side, while road accidents are also increasing there.

rapid redevelopment work

Commercial and high-rise buildings have come up in Vashi Sector 1 to Sector 9, Sector 10, Sector 11, Sector 14, Sector 15 and Sector 16. With the rapid redevelopment plans taking place, Vashi Market is witnessing a rush of buyers. It is always crowded here. Sector 9 to Sector 14 sees a rush of vehicles and pedestrians. This wastes 30-45 minutes to an hour for traveling to Koparkhairane from Vashi Railway Station, which is 15 minutes away.

multiple challenges

The situation of traffic problem here has become serious since last few years. As a solution to this, in the first phase, the City Engineer Department reconstructed the footpaths. Emphasis was laid on providing parking facilities for vehicles in congested areas. Given the huge number of vehicles on the roads, crossing the road was a challenge. The decision to construct overbridges in such areas was taken by the then municipal commissioners. However, this plan remained pending in many areas.

construction of bridge in sector 9

The cost of this bridge is Rs 2 crore 44 lakh. Its length is 27 meters and width is 3 meters. Two lifts will also be installed on this bridge. This will provide relief to senior citizens and children.
