Mumbai Municipal Elections will not be held till August, hearing on Ward Reorganization now directly in August

BMC Election: The Supreme Court case regarding the number of wards of Mumbai Municipal Corporation will be heard directly in the first week of August. Therefore, it is also clear that the BMC Municipal Elections will not be held till then. The Supreme Court today issued a notice to the BMC and the state government regarding the change in the number of wards.

92 The case was sought to be joined with the case pending in respect of Municipal Councils but the court kept the petition separate.

The number of BMC wards was increased from 227 to 236 by the Thackeray government, while the Shinde Fadnavis government again increased the number to 227. After that, the Bombay High Court upheld the decision of the Shinde Fadnavis government. That decision has been challenged in the Supreme Court
