Metro and water transport in Mumbai will reduce the traffic problem of MMR, Maharashtra gets 424 crores in budget 2023
Mumbai: The Shinde government has laid special emphasis on water transport in its first Maharashtra budget presented on Thursday. A provision of Rs 586.2 crore has been made in the budget to ease the travel of passengers through waterways. To reduce the traffic problem of MMR, a plan has been prepared to create new waterways. Under this, it has been decided to start water transport from Thane to Vasai. A provision of Rs 424 crore has been made in the budget for this project which will increase the speed of MMR. Through the budget, the government has also tried to solve the problem of the jetty of the Gateway of India.

In the budget, it has been decided to prepare a jetty and develop passenger facilities near the Radio Club located at the Gateway of India. A provision of Rs 162 crore, 20 lakh has been made to promote water traffic through the Gateway of India.

These will be the advantages of water transport

Due to lack of jetty at the gateway, the administration was facing difficulty in starting services on the new route from there. Due to lack of space, cruise service was started from the Domestic Cruise Terminal. But due to lack of adequate transport facilities to reach the cruise terminal, there was very less response from the passengers. As a result many companies had to stop their services. With the availability of bus service and other facilities near Radio Club, passengers will be able to reach the jetty easily.
