Raju Shetty
Currently there is excess production of various crops in the state. It is also affecting the rate. Therefore, the government should process this excess production or make storage arrangements for it, said Raju Shetty, leader of Swabhimani Shetkar Sangathan. Also emphasis should be given on agricultural mechanization, for which the government should give subsidy. Electricity rates should be regulated. Farmers’ crops are heavily damaged by wild animals. Help should be increased for that. Farmers injured in wild animal attacks should be treated in good hospitals. Raju Shetty has demanded Rs 20 lakh to help farmers if they die of snakebite.
Insurance cover required in case of damage
Weather based insurance plan is bogus. In case of damage after unseasonal rain, compensation should be paid. Raju Shetty also said that insurance should be obtained regardless of the duration of the loss. Shetty said that insurance cover is necessary when there is a loss. Center should immediately increase procurement of onion. There is a shortage of onion in the international market It is necessary to increase the speed of purchase.
Sadabhau Khot
Agriculture should be deregulated. Sadabhau Khot, the head of Ryat Kranti Sangathan, expressed the opinion that it is necessary to build infrastructure in the agricultural sector for that. Khot also said that it is necessary to establish farmers’ companies and encourage contract farming. External investment should be made in agriculture. Sadabhau Khot also said that it is expected to take some decisions in the budget regarding the preparation of cropping system policy. Sadabhau Khot also said that a marketing system should be set up.
Dr. Ajit Navale
Currently the prices of agricultural commodities are falling. Onion farmers are in trouble. Therefore, Kisan Sabha leader Dr. Ajit Navale has demanded that the government should provide relief to the onion farmers in this budget. Last year, onion was fetching a rate of Rs 2,200 to 2,500 per quintal. This year, however, onion is fetching Rs 500 to 600 per quintal, Navle said. Therefore, the state government should immediately announce a subsidy of 600 rupees to onion farmers. Ajit Navale said that purchases from Nafed should be increased.
