Lumpy Skin Disease: Prohibitory order imposed in Sangli district to control lumpy skin disease, animal market, bullock cart races are also banned.

Lumpy Skin Disease : In 59 talukas of 17 districts of the state, it has been found that lumpy skin disease has occurred in cows and buffaloes. Blood nasal discharge swabs and scraping samples of limb nodules from 4 lumpy skin disease-like crossbred cows and one lumpy skin disease-like crossbred cow from Shekharwadi and Chikurde villages in Walwa taluka of Sangli district respectively have come back positive for lumpy skin disease from the laboratory. 

According to this order, farmers/cow rearers are prohibited from purchasing livestock from outside the district as well as from the state and transporting livestock/animals. As Lumpy skin disease has been prevalent in Sangli district as well as neighboring districts, all weekly markets of animals in the district have been banned. 

Also in other weekly markets of the district, buying and selling and exhibiting of animals is also prohibited. Also organizing bullock cart race is strictly prohibited. District Animal Husbandry Deputy Commissioner, District Animal Husbandry Officer, Superintendent of Police, Local Self-Government, Sub-Regional Transport Officer, District Deputy Registrar, Co-operative Societies and Heads of all ancillary administrative departments have been ordered to strictly implement this order.
