Kharif Crop Production : Major Kharif Kharip season. This estimate has been announced by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. In this, the ministry has predicted a record production of maize and sugarcane. Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar expressed the opinion that the agriculture sector is developing day by day due to the efforts of farmers, the depth of scientists and the policies of the government for the benefit of farmers.
Central Agriculture and Farmers Welfare The first preliminary forecast for Kharif season 2022-23 has been released on behalf of the Ministry. It is predicted that there will be a record production of maize and sugarcane. Food / Coarse Cereals – 36.56 million tonnes
Maize – 23.10 million tonnes (record production)
Pulses – 8.37 million tonnes
Toor – 3.89 million tonnes
Oilseed – 23.57 million tonnes
Groundnut – 8.37 million tonnes
Soybean – 12.89 million tonnes
Cotton – 34.19 million bales (170 kg each)
Jute and Mesta -10.09 million bales (180 kg each)
Sugarcane – 465.05 million Tons (Record Production)
Maize to be Record Production
According to the first seasonal forecast for 2022-23 (kharif only), total foodgrain production in the country is 149.92 million tonnes. It is predictable. It is 6.98 million tonnes more than the average foodgrain production of the previous five years (2016-17 to 2020-21). Total kharif rice production is estimated at 104.99 million tonnes in 2022-23. The average production for the last five years (2016-17 to 2020-21) was 100.59 million tonnes. It is more than that by 4.40 million tonnes. Maize production in the country is estimated at a record 23.10 million tonnes in 2022-23. It is 3.21 million tonnes more than the average production of 19.89 million tonnes. Whereas the kharif nutritive/coarse cereals production is estimated at 36.56 million tonnes which is 2.92 million tonnes more than the average production of 33.64 million tonnes. The total kharif dal production in 2022-23 is estimated at 8.37 million tonnes. Production is estimated at 23.57 million tonnes. Which is 1.74 million tonnes more than the average. Total sugarcane production in the country is estimated at a record 465.05 million tonnes in 2022-23. Sugarcane production of 373.46 million tonnes in 2022-23 is 91.59 million tonnes above the average.
Cotton production is estimated at 34.19 million bales (170 kg each) and jute and mesta production is estimated at 10.09 million bales (180 kg each).
