Bombay High Court New Building: For new building of Mumbai High Court (High Court)

How will the new high court complex be? 

Formal Ordinance for allotment of this plot in Bandra East will be issued soon. The complex will also house the Bombay High Court and some other judicial authorities. Also the lawyer’s office will be in about eight acres and the building will be in twenty one acres. Apart from this, the High Court was also told that some halls will be available for lawyers on a professional basis from which the state government can also get revenue. The Public Works Department had a reserved plot for government employees. The department has now agreed to give the same for the new building of the High Court. An agreement in this regard will be made soon. But the information was given by the Advocate General that it will take some time. 

What exactly is the matter? 

When the Shinde-Fadnavis government was formed in the state, the government promised that the land for the new High Court building would be given soon. Then the felicitation ceremony of the then Chief Justice of India UU Lalit at Raj Bhavan Maharashtra Bhagatsinh Koshyari and Bombay High Court Chief Justice Dipankar Dutta were also present. What happened to the desire and enthusiasm shown by the government then, is still not decided. That is why lawyer Ahmed Abdi filed a contempt petition. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde publicly said that, "Our government is planning to bring transparency in the judiciary. We are taking some decisions for the betterment of the judiciary. The site at Bandra for the new High Court complex will be allotted soon. This is the need of the state."said Chief Minister Shinde.
