Anil Deshmukh: Based on the bail granted by the Bombay High Court, Anil Deshmukh has urgently filed an application for bail in the Bombay Sessions Court on Thursday. Taking cognizance of this, the court has directed the CBI to file its reply by October 14. Anil Deshmukh, who has been under arrest for the last year on charges of money laundering and misusing his position, has finally been released by the High Court. Bombay High Court has granted bail to Anil Deshmukh in the case filed by ED. However, for the release of Deshmukh, who is still under arrest in the case filed by the CBI, it is mandatory to get bail in the CBI case as well.
Anil Deshmukh was accused by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh of ordering the recovery of Rs 100 crore per month. After these allegations, Deshmukh had to resign from his post as Home Minister. After the order of the High Court, the CBI had registered a case against Anil Deshmukh and some others after preliminary investigation in this case. On the same FIR, an ECIR was filed by the ED against Deshmukh in a financial misappropriation case and he was arrested on November 2, 2021 on the eve of Ain Diwali and sent to judicial custody. Since then, Deshmukh has been in Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai for almost a year.
Anil Deshmukh, who is currently in judicial custody, was granted bail by the Bombay High Court on October 4, 2022. However, he could not be released from jail as the CBI is also investigating him in the same extortion case. He will not be released from jail until he gets bail from the CBI, so Anil Deshmukh has filed a bail application asking the CBI court to grant him bail as well. CBI is also investigating the same case in which ED has granted bail to him. Therefore, Deshmukh has demanded in his bail application that the CBI court should also grant him bail. Taking cognizance of that application, the court has directed the CBI to submit a reply to the application. Chances of Anil Deshmukh getting bail increased.
