Bhopal: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will address public meeting at BHEL Dussehra ground in Bhopal today. Assembly elections are due in the state this year. Aam Aadmi Party has announced to contest elections on 230 seats in MP. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann will also participate in this rally along with Kejriwal. Looking at the elections, Kejriwal can make big announcements in MP. With this rally, Kejriwal will start the party’s campaign for the MP assembly elections. Till now there used to be a direct contest between BJP and Congress in MP, but this time Aam Aadmi Party has announced to contest the elections.

An AAP functionary said that with the rally, AAP is aiming to make a dent in the politics of Madhya Pradesh. So far in Madhya Pradesh, there has been a contest between two parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress. The BJP has been in power for most of the last two decades except for 15 months. The organizers of the rally told that along with Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will also participate in the rally.

Happy with the results of civic elections
The AAP, which recently announced that it will contest all the 230 assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh, is buoyed by its performance in the local body elections in July-August last year. Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP has claimed 6.3 per cent votes in its very first civic polls in Madhya Pradesh. A party leader said that our party’s candidate won from Singrauli and stood third in Gwalior and Rewa in the elections held for the post of mayor in total 14 municipal corporations of the state.

The AAP had fielded around 1,500 candidates for the posts of councilors in urban bodies, of whom 40 won, while 135 to 140 came second. A party leader claimed that AAP-backed candidates won 10 posts of district panchayat members, 23 district members, 103 sarpanches and 250 panchs in the panchayat polls held on non-party basis.
