Ankit Das, nephew of former Union Minister Akhilesh Das, was arrested in the Tikunia case of Lakhimpur Kheri. The licensed pistol and gunner Latif’s repeater gun recovered from Ankit Das’s house was sent by the police for forensic examination on Saturday.
On Friday, the police raided Ankit’s residence in Hussainganj in Lucknow, Sagar Sona Hotel in Gomtinagar and other places with him. A repeater gun and pistol were also recovered during this period. According to sources, after the Lakhimpur incident, Ankit Sagar stayed at Sona Hotel and went to Nepal from here.

The SIT raided on Friday with Ankit along with him. During this, the police did not find both the mobile phones Ankit. He has not even given any information about his phone to the police. Police are looking for his phone as they will get information about whom Ankit contacted through WhatsApp and other social media apps after the incident.
Ankit is accused of firing
At the same time, it will be ascertained from the investigation of the weapons whether firing was done from them at the spot. Eyewitnesses alleged that Ankit and his accomplices ran away while firing from the spot. Earlier, the police had also sent the rifle and revolver recovered from Ashish Mishra alias Monu for forensic examination.
Four main accused still out of custody
Even after 14 days of violence, the four main accused are away from the grip of the police. These embody key eyewitness Sumit Jaiswal Modi sitting in Thar, Nand sitting on Fortuner at the time of violence, Satyam Tiwari and the driver of Scorpio. Sources say that the Scorpio driver has fled to Nagpur. A team is being sent there in search of him.
Earlier the owner of Scorpio was being told to a person named Abrar, but investigation has revealed that this vehicle is not of Abrar. Police is collecting information about the owner of the vehicle. At present, the police have taken 2-3 vehicles in their possession.
DM met BJP worker’s father
Lakhimpur-Kheeri SP Vijay Dhul and ADM Sanjay Kumar Singh reached BJP worker Shubham’s house at 11 am on Saturday. He handed over the copy of the FIR and the postmortem report to Shubham’s father and assured that the accused in the murder of his son would be caught soon.
Shubham was beaten to death during the violence. At the same time, even after repeated calls, the families of the killed farmers are not coming to the police to record their statements. This hinders the investigation.
No bail for three accused
Ankit, driver Shekhar, gunner Latif had filed a bail application in the court of CJM Chintaram on Saturday, which was rejected by the court. The three accused are in police custody remand till Sunday morning.
