Whales spit out  this amber grease after eating food. It floats on the ocean. Because of this, many smugglers roam the sea all the time. That’s why it is said to be the gold found on the water. 

How much does it cost?
To buy a kilo of this whale vomit, you have to spend crores of rupees. It is more valuable than gold. Gives off a nice fragrance.

Why so expensive?
This vomit is used in making famous scents. Also this vomit is used in some types of medicine. Ambergris is also used in Ayurveda for digestion and nervous disorders. That’s why this vomit is very expensive. 

It is illegal in our country
They sell it in many countries. But selling this substance is illegal in our country. Because the sperm whale is one of the endangered species. Our country declared it as an endangered species in 1970. Many hunt them just for this vomit. That’s why it banned that substance. But it is legal to sell it in European Union countries. It is also sold on eBay sites. It has been banned in our country as well as in Australia and America. It is sold legally in countries like Maldives,  Britain, Switzerland.
