Longevity Diet: This is the secret of longevity of centenarians – if you follow this diet you can live for hundreds of years

At the time of our grandfathers and grandmothers, some of them lived for hundreds of years. Still we keep hearing in the news about centenarians in many countries, records of world’s longest living people. Many of those that live more than a hundred years live in Japan, Costa Rica, Italy, Greece, and California. The area they were in was called the Blue Zone. Those who are here will not hit a century. The researchers found that Annni was able to survive for years without complications. They are able to survive for years not only because of their lifestyle but also because of their food. Blue zone people can live longer because of following 11 dietary rules. Do you know what they are?

Plant-based food

Approximately 95 to 100 percent of their diet is plant-based. Greens like spinach, kale, beet root, turnip, collards are the best longevity foods. Seasonal fruits, vegetables, whole grains and beans are also consumed. Opt for olive oil instead of butter.

Meat every once in a while

Some of us can’t go without a piece. But the long-lived eat meat only once in a while. Researchers studied the eating habits of vegetarians living in Loma Linda, California. They can live up to eight years longer than meat eaters. Instead of meat, they choose  tofu as an alternative.

Occasional fish

Blue Zoners eat fish. But even that is only occasionally. Three small servings of fish per week are sufficient for centenarians. Choose to eat small, inexpensive fish like sardines. They are less susceptible to mercury and other chemicals.

Avoid dairy products

Blue Zoners avoid dairy products. Researchers have found that cow’s milk increases the risk of breast and prostate cancer. That is why they stay away from them. If they have to take it, they choose goat and sheep milk products.

Don’t eat eggs

It is said that eggs are not necessary to live long. If you have to eat, don’t eat more than three times a week. Add an egg to a whole grain, plant-based dish. People with heart, circulatory problems and diabetes should avoid eggs completely.

Beans

Beans like lentils should be included in the diet. Black beans, chick peas, white beans are taken. Aim to eat at least half a cup of cooked beans every day. Apart from being rich in fiber and protein, these are one of the foods that are good for the heart.

Sugar should be reduced

Sugar should not be left out completely. It is recommended that you eat no more than seven teaspoons of sugar per day. Sweets, cookies, cakes are enjoyed on special occasions.

Nuts

Choose healthy nuts as a snack. Almonds, peanuts, brazil nuts, cashews, walnuts are eaten. It is rich in vitamins and minerals. A maximum of two small handfuls of nuts per day.

Don’t touch bread

Stay away from processed bread. Choose those made from whole grains. Avoid white flour breads. These quickly turn into sugar and raise insulin levels.

No processed food

Avoid eating sugar-free, low-fat, processed foods. Blue Zoners tend to get nutrients from food rather than vitamins and supplements.

Liquids

Fizzy drinks should be avoided. Drink at least seven glasses of water a day. Red wine should be consumed in moderation. Choose green or rosemary and sage teas.
