Camel flu on the rise, an epidemic – masks again?

The world is just getting out of the clutches of Corona. Corona spread quickly among people. Another infectious disease arose with similar symptoms. It can also be fatal at times. The name of this epidemic is ‘Camel Flu’. Face shields and mouth masks are necessary to prevent it from spreading. 

Camel flu is shaking the spectators watching the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. It is called ‘Middle East Respiratory Syndrome’ (MERS). The WHO report says that the 1.2 million people attending the FIFA World Cup may have increased the spread of the virus.

What is this flu?
Dr Soliman Faki Hospital‌ in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The first case was reported in 2012. Later, most of these flu cases emerged in the Arabian Peninsula. About 35% of those diagnosed with the disease die. It means that it is a very deadly disease. 

Symptoms
This is a respiratory disease. In Saudi it is called Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). After getting this flu, the following symptoms appear. 
1. Fever
2. Cough
3. Shortness of breath
4. Diarrhea 
5. Vomiting 
6. Dyspepsia
7. Abdominal pain

This flu is caused by  ‘MERS coronavirus’ (MERS-CoV) is the cause. Its genes are divided into clade A and clade B phylogenetically. 

How to prevent?
Doctors and scientists still do not fully understand the mechanism of this virus. Anyone experiencing the above symptoms should see a doctor. Also care should be taken not to infect others. 
1. Mouth mask should be worn.
2. The face should be shielded. 
3. Goggles should be worn for the eyes. 
4. Gloves should be worn on hands. 
5. Try to stay longer in the sun rather than in cold weather.
