Will Pakistan bypass US sanctions? Russian President Putin made a big offer to Shahbaz Sharif

Russian President Vladimir Putin told Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday that his country can supply gas to Pakistan and the necessary infrastructure is already in place. Putin made the remarks during his meeting with Sharif on the sidelines of the Shanghai Summit (SCO) in Uzbekistan.

“The issue is the supply of pipeline gas from Russia to Pakistan, which is possible, which means that a part of the infrastructure has already been built… The Afghan issue has to be resolved.

Putin expressed hope for a solution

“There are certainly problems related to political stability, but taking into account our mutually good relations with the Afghan people, I hope that this problem can also be resolved, I mean on the situation in the country,” the Russian President said. It is from the influence of Pakistan.

It is not for Pakistan to accept Russia’s offer. Because many European countries, including America, are imposing various economic sanctions on Russia for starting a war against Ukraine. In such a situation, if Pakistan agrees to take gas from Russia, then America can also pull back its hand extended to help.

And with whom did Shahbaz Sharif meet?

Sharif also held a meeting with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the sidelines of the SCO meeting and discussed issues of mutual interest. He also met with President of Tajikistan Imamoli Rahman and discussed various topics of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation including regional and international issues.

Sharif also met Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko. Prime Minister Sharif is accompanied by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Finance Minister Mifta Ismail and Defense Minister Khawaja Asif in Samarkand.
