The Congress has not yet openly clarified its stand on the ordinance brought by the central government to control the services in Delhi. The party high command is now making up its mind to conduct an opinion poll within the party on this. For this a big meeting is going to be held on Monday.
According to information, Delhi Congress leaders will hold a meeting with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday, May 29, on the issue of the ordinance. Kharge will take opinion of party leaders on whether to support Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on this issue.
Kejriwal seeks time to meet Kharge and Rahul Gandhi
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has sought an appointment with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Rahul Gandhi to garner support for opposing the ordinance issued by the Center on deregulation of services.
Kejriwal has sought support from various political parties including Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and Trinamool Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on the issue.
Kejriwal tweeted on Friday, “Meeted Congress President Kharge ji and Rahul Gandhi ji to discuss BJP government’s anti-democratic and unconstitutional ordinance to get Congress support in Parliament and attack on federal structure and current political situation.” Time has been sought.
‘Kejriwal kept praising BJP, he should realize his mistake’
Delhi Congress President Anil Chowdhary on Saturday took a jibe at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal amid the controversy over the Centre’s ordinance, saying the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor should realize his “mistake”. He used to praise the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) earlier.
His remarks came in the wake of the Delhi chief minister seeking support from Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former MP Rahul Gandhi against the Centre’s ordinance on deregulation of administrative services in the national capital.
Anil Chowdhary said, “The Congress high command will decide whether they will meet Arvind Kejriwal or not. When all the opposition parties were together, they kept praising the BJP. Arvind Kejriwal should realize his mistake.
What is the reason for the dispute
Let us tell you that, on May 19, the Central Government had issued an ordinance for the purpose of setting up the ‘National Capital Public Service Authority’ for the transfer of ‘Group-A’ officers of ‘DANICS’ cadre and for disciplinary action against them, which was widely accepted. The Aadmi Party (AAP) government is speaking against the Supreme Court’s decision on deregulation of services.
Significantly, just a week before the ordinance was issued, the Supreme Court had handed over the control of police, law and order and all other services in the national capital to the Delhi government.
