Will India-China relations improve on LAC? Modi-Jinping will be face to face in Samarkand today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping will face each other after nearly three years at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in Samarkand on Friday. But whether there would be a sideline meeting between the two leaders, there was doubt on Thursday as well. Neither India nor China has confirmed this. Despite this, eyes are on this meeting.

In the draft of Prime Minister Modi’s SCO program, the program of bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi is recorded. All these three meetings have been kept after noon. A limited format has been kept for the Prime Minister’s meetings between 10 and 10.30 before noon. There are to be one to one meetings. Who will meet in this, it is not mentioned, so it is being expected that perhaps the Chinese President may meet during this time.

Improvement in relations with India is the need of the hour for China

Foreign affairs experts believe that India-China relations in the SCO will definitely open the way to melt the ice. Because at present, China is also keen to improve relations with India. As China’s economy is facing many challenges. His companies in India are facing difficulties. The issue of Taiwan is emerging as a new challenge, in such a situation the need of the hour is to improve relations with India. Both the countries have kept silence on this issue so far, due to which it appears that the diplomatic channel is still working behind the scenes regarding the meeting of the two leaders. Various issues of the subject of talks are being decided.

It is known that the last meeting of Modi-Jinping took place in November 2019 during the BRICS summit in Brazil. Then the relations between the two countries were getting stronger. After this, in June 2020, relations soured due to a confrontation between the armies of the two countries in Ladakh.
