US President Joe Biden promised advanced ‘Striker’ armored vehicles and Leopard-2 tanks to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to aid Ukraine in the Russia-Ukraine war. But now Britain has directly refused to provide fourth-generation fighter jets to Ukraine to counter Russian airstrikes.
A spokesman for British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s office said on Tuesday, “It is not possible to send warplanes to Ukraine under the current circumstances.” That’s why we think the decision to send warplanes to Ukraine right now is not the right one.”
On the state of war, Sunak said, however, that Britain would continue to discuss military aid to Ukraine with its allies. Incidentally, Yuri Sok, an adviser to Ukraine’s Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, said on Thursday, “If we get the fourth generation F-16 or similar fighters, the war will be completely turned around.”
The defense minister of Ukraine said that he needed to acquire fighter jets for the independence of his country.
