Twitter bans Blue subscription; surprising reason

Twitter has put brakes on its paid blue tick subscription plan. CNBC has disclosed this in a report. CNBC reported that Twitter has stopped its new Blue subscription just a day after it was rolled out after users were seen abusing it to imitate brands and celebrities.

Twitter’s $7.99/month service was launched nearly two weeks after Elon Musk took over, requiring users to pay for a verification check mark.

Many fake accounts surfaced

CNBC said that as of Friday, the iPhone app is not showing the option to sign up for Twitter Blue. Shortly after the roll out, several fake verified accounts also surfaced, causing panic on the social media platform. However, these fake accounts were suspended within a few hours.

Furthermore, a verified blue tick account of former US President Donald Trump leads users to believe that the Republicans have made a comeback. Shortly before the suspension, fake accounts of Tesla, Twitter and pharma company Eli & Lilly also surfaced.

On Friday, Twitter relaunched its ‘official’ badge, which was discontinued a day before it launched with Blue. Now, verified accounts of big companies like Apple and Loreal have an ‘official’ badge below their usernames.
