IMD Weather Report 20 May: Amidst the scorching heat, the Meteorological Department has given the news of relief. Southwest Monsoon is very likely to advance into some parts of South Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea and Andaman & Nicobar Islands during next 3 days. Due to this, there are chances of rain in many areas. Meanwhile, a fresh Western Disturbance is also set to affect Northwest India from May 23.
According to the Meteorological Department, it may rain in many parts of the country during the next 5 days. The IMD has predicted that between 20th to 24th, heavy rains would occur at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya. On the other hand, there are chances of rain in Arunachal Pradesh on 20 and 21 May and in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on 24 May.
Apart from this, light rain may occur over West Bengal and Sikkim during the next 5 days. There is a possibility of hailstorm at different places of Odisha on 20th May. There is a possibility of lightning in West Bengal on May 23 in areas along the banks of the Ganges.
A fresh Western Disturbance may also give rain over the Western Himalayan region. According to IMD, there is a possibility of hailstorm and lightning in Uttarakhand on 24 May. Here the wind can blow at a speed of 50-60 kmph. There is a possibility of dust storm in different areas of Rajasthan from 22 to 24 May. At the same time, light rain may occur at isolated places in Chhattisgarh between May 22 and 24.
