The story of Ayman al-Zawahiri, the most wanted terrorist, became an eye doctor after meeting bin Laden

Al Qaeda chief and main conspirator of the 9/11 terror attacks Ayman al-Zawahiri has been killed in a US drone strike. US President Joe Biden himself confirmed this and he said that justice has been done.

Zawahiri became al-Qaeda chief after the US military killed Osama bin Laden in Jalalabad, Pakistan. Al-Zawahiri was identified as a global terrorist after bin Laden was killed. He had a bounty of USD 25 million.

Born in a family of scholars and doctors

Zawahiri was born into an Egyptian middle-class family of scholars and doctors. He also wanted to become a doctor since childhood. Her grandfather was Rabia al-Zawahiri, who was the Grand Imam of Al Azhar. It is a major center of Sunni Islamic learning in the Middle East. Worked as a surgeon in Mishra’s army

Al-Zawahiri served as a surgeon in the Egyptian army for three years. Zawahiri’s journey from an eye surgeon to a most wanted global terrorist began when he met bin Laden in 1986. He worked as bin Laden’s personal assistant and doctor.

Took the leadership of Islamic Jihad in Egypt in 1993

In 1993 he took over the leadership of Islamic Jihad in Egypt. Zawahiri became a prominent face in the mid-1990s campaign to overthrow the government and establish an Islamic State. He was found to be involved in the murder of more than 1,200 people from Egypt.

In 1998, Zawahiri merged Egypt’s Islamic Jihad with al-Qaeda. Nearly simultaneous bombings occurred at the US embassies in Nairobi in Kenya, Dar es Salaam in Africa and Tanzania, killing 224 people. These included 12 Americans and injured more than 4,500 people. Zawahiri was blamed for his role in these bombings.

One of the main conspirators of the 9/11 attacks

Al-Zawahiri’s most dangerous form of terror-plotting occurred on 11 September 2001. About 3,000 people were killed in the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in the US. He and bin Laden escaped from US forces in Afghanistan in 2001. In 2001, the US government declared Zawahiri the world’s most wanted terrorist number two.

Zawahiri has been killed a year after US forces pulled out of Afghanistan. The US President called it a campaign for justice. “No matter how long it takes, wherever you hide, if you are a threat to our people, America will find you,” he said.
