Siddaramaiah has been crowned in Karnataka. The senior Congress leader took oath as Chief Minister on Saturday afternoon. With this, he became the Chief Minister of Karnataka for the second time. Karnataka Congress State President DK Shivakumar was administered the oath of office by Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot as Deputy Chief Minister. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Kanteerava Football Stadium in Bengaluru. Apart from Siddha and Shivakumar, several former ministers were sworn in on Saturday. During this, all the top leaders of the party registered their presence, as it was expected that all the opposition would be present in Siddha’s coronation, but it did not happen. West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC President Mamata Banerjee and Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav were absent during this period.
Mamta-Akhilesh not ready to consider Congress as Big Brother?
Mamta Banerjee and Akhilesh Yadav are in the top among the leaders who left the united opposition’s melody against BJP. Mamta Banerjee and Akhilesh Yadav, who are looking for land for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, have started uniting all the satraps for a united opposition. The reason behind the absence of these leaders, who have advocated Congress-less opposition, at the swearing-in ceremony of Siddaramaiah government in Karnataka is clear that both the leaders are not ready to consider Congress as Big Brother in any way. However, Mamta, who had expressed happiness after the BJP’s defeat, had made it clear that her fight would always be against the BJP, during which she would have no objection if she gets someone’s support.
On the other hand, the Congress says that they invited Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Telangana CM KCR, Kerala Chief Minister P. Vijayan, Andhra Pradesh CM Jaganmohan Reddy, BSP Chief Mayawati and BJD to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Siddaramaiah as Chief Minister. Chief and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has not been called. Why did the Congress distance itself from these parties? Its meaning can also be seen by linking it to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. On the other hand, Mamta Kejriwal has expressed her closeness with KCR regarding the united opposition.
Didi did not reach for Siddha’s coronation
Why did Mamata Banerjee appear to be missing out on this big Congress event? According to TMC Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien, TMC MP Dr. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar attended the event instead of CM Mamata Banerjee. But the question is why didn’t Mamta reach the swearing-in ceremony of Siddha government? Mamata Banerjee says she is ready to support Congress in 2024 Lok Sabha elections provided Congress also extends similar support to TMC in West Bengal. After Mamta Banerjee’s statement, there has been a reaction from the Congress as well. West Bengal Pradesh Congress President and Lok Sabha MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary rejected Mamta’s offer and said that there is no question of any kind of settlement with TMC in West Bengal.
What is the meaning of Akhilesh-Mamta not reaching?
Several top leaders including Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, Left leader Sitaram Yechury, former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and NCP chief Sharad Pawar were present at Siddaramaiah’s swearing-in. In such a situation, even after inviting Akhilesh Yadav and Mamta Banerjee to the big event of Congress, many speculations are being made about the opposition unity. On the question of opposition unity, the tone of Akhilesh and Mamta has been the same regarding the Congress, in such a situation, it is believed that this step of these two leaders can cause a setback to the effort of uniting the opposition against the BJP.
