A big update has come out regarding the fire that broke out in Ashirwad Building, a multi-storey building in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. Eyewitnesses say that the wedding party was going on in the flat where the fire broke out first. A large number of guests had arrived to attend the wedding. However, it is not yet clear whether the fire broke out due to a short-circuit or a blast in the cooking cylinder. It is being told that the fire first started in the third floor of the building and from there it spread to other flats. Relief and rescue work is going on.
14 deaths confirmed so far
So far 14 people have been reported killed. There are 8 women and 4 children among them. However, various other sources report at least 20 casualties. SSP Sanjeev Kumar said that only after the completion of the rescue operation can tell how many people died or how many people were injured. He said that the injured have been admitted to the nearest hospital. SSP Sanjeev Kumar told that the fire first started in the third floor and from there it spread till the fifth floor. Not only the people living in these flats were affected by the fire, the people living in the flats above lost their lives by getting trapped in the stairs while trying to run down in panic. Many bodies have been found on the stairs.
The Chief Minister expressed grief over the incident
Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed grief over the incident. Paying tribute to the dead on his official Twitter, he wrote that the death of people due to fire in Dhanbad’s Ashirwad Tower apartment is extremely heartbreaking. The district administration is working on a war footing and treatment is being provided to those injured in the accident. I am looking into the whole matter myself. May God grant peace to the departed souls and give strength to the bereaved families to bear the difficult times of grief. Everything possible is being done to provide quick medical treatment to the injured.
