BJP leader Tajinder Pal Bagga got a big relief from the Punjab and Haryana High Court late on Saturday night. While hearing the application filed against the arrest warrant issued by the Mohali Court, the High Court has stayed any action till further orders. This means that the Punjab Police cannot come to Delhi to arrest Tajinder Pal Bagga till the next hearing.
There was a lot of rhetoric on social media regarding the midnight High Court hearing against Bagga’s arrest. AAP leader Kapil took a jibe and said that in the last few years only twice the court hearing has been held at night. First for the hanging of terrorist Yakub Menon and second for stopping the arrest of Tajinder Pal Bagga.
It is worth mentioning that the Mohali Court on Saturday, while issuing a non-bailable warrant against Tajinder Pal Bagga, had termed the action of Delhi and Haryana Police as wrong. The court had said that the release of Tajinder Pal Bagga from the custody of Punjab Police and handing him over to the Delhi Police is absolutely illegal. After the issue of non-bailable warrant against Tajinder Pal Bagga, the Punjab Police got the right to arrest him at any time. This is the reason that the Punjab-Haryana High Court has listed the matter for immediate hearing.
