T20 World Cup: Rahul Dravid also expected Jasprit Bumrah to be fit, gave a big update about the fast bowler

Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the ongoing three-match T20I series against South Africa. He has gone to the NCA due to a serious back pain problem (stress fracture) where he is under the supervision of the BCCI medical team, although whether he will travel to Australia with the World Cup squad or take part in the World Cup is yet to be ascertained. There is no official statement from BCCI.

However, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said on Friday, “Bumrah is not out of the World Cup yet, let’s see what happens next. The decision on whether Bumrah will go to Australia or not can be taken in two or three days. Don’t keep him out of the World Cup.

Team’s head coach Rahul Dravid has also made a big statement regarding the availability of Jasprit Bumrah. The coach believes that unless Bumrah is officially out of the World Cup, his hopes of going to Australia are intact.

These teams, including Afghanistan, West Indies, reached Australia for T20 World Cup, will start from October 16

When asked about Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness and availability for the upcoming tournament in Australia, India head coach Rahul Dravid said at a press conference, “Unless I get official confirmation that he will be out (from the T20 World Cup). Gone, we hope will always prevail.”

“As of now, Bumrah is officially out of this series against South Africa, as you know,” he said ahead of the second T20 match against South Africa in Guwahati. He has moved to NCA and we are waiting for official confirmation on the next steps. So, as of now he is only officially out of the series, but we will see what happens in the next few days and once we get some official confirmation, we will be able to share it.”

Star fast bowler Bumrah played two T20Is in the three-match T20I series against Australia but did not travel to Thiruvananthapuram to play the first match of the series against South Africa. Bumrah is the second Indian player after Ravindra Jadeja, who is finding it difficult to play in the World Cup. Jadeja is recovering from a knee operation.
