The situation in Sri Lanka has become uncontrollable amid the political crisis. Meanwhile, the Indian High Commission in Colombo on Tuesday dismissed “rumours circulating on social media” that “some Sri Lankan politicians and their families” have fled to India.
The Indian High Commission tweeted late on Tuesday evening, “The High Commission has taken note of the recent media and rumors circulating in some sections of social media that some political persons and their families have fled to India.”
The tweet further read, “These are fake and blatantly false reports, with no truth or substance, the High Commission strongly denies them.” However, it is not known which ‘political persons’ the High Commission mentioned in its tweet.
Significantly, the situation in Sri Lanka has gone from bad to worse. Meanwhile, now a big decision has been taken by the Ministry of Defense to stop the agitating protesters. It has been told that an order has been given to shoot at sight ie shoot at sight against those who commit violence. In Sri Lanka, the curfew has been extended till 7 am on May 12.
