The RBI announced the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 notes on Friday evening. All notes above Rs 2,000 can be returned to banks by September 30. Even though the decision has been taken by the RBI, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has made a big attack on PM Modi regarding this. Akhilesh said that some people understand their mistake late. Referring to demonetisation, he also reminded the people of the difficulties faced by them. Gave an advice to the central government on the same pretext.
It may be noted that the Rs 2,000 note was introduced by the Modi government in 2016. After banning the old Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes, the Modi government started printing new Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 notes. It was told at that time that this was being done to curb black money, attack on terrorism and crack down on fake notes. However, from the same time, the opposition to printing two thousand notes had started. Experts had expressed apprehension of further increase in black money due to the circulation of 2000 notes.
Now the apprehension is proving true. RBI and other financial organizations also believe that Rs 2,000 notes have been dumped by black money hoarders on a large scale. It is believed that a new exercise is being done to unearth this black money. On November 8, 2016, PM Modi himself had announced the closure of five hundred and one thousand notes. After this there was chaos in the country. This time RBI has announced instead of PM Modi or any minister of the government.
Regarding this announcement, Akhilesh Yadav targeted the Modi government by tweeting. Akhilesh wrote that some people understand their mistake late…. The same has happened in the case of 2000/- note. But its punishment is borne by the people and the economy of this country. Governance does not run arbitrarily, it runs wisely and honestly.
Akhilesh Yadav may not have written anyone’s name but his reference is directly on PM Modi and Modi government. The GDP of the country had fallen badly after demonetisation and the issue of two thousand rupees note.
Even though the central government never considered demonetisation as a wrong decision, it never patted itself on the back for demonetisation because of the destruction caused in the economy and other sectors. It was promoted till the UP elections immediately after demonetisation. After this election, BJP did not even make demonetisation an issue in any election. This proved that the decision of demonetisation was wrong.
