Former Jammu and Kashmir CM and Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti has demanded the state’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene in the arrests soon after the release of the PDP’s youth leader Waheed Para. The National Bureau of Investigation (NIA) special court on Saturday released PDP youth leader Waheed Ur Rehman Para on bail, but shortly after, Para was arrested by Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK).
Para was released on bail after being detained for a month and a half by the NIA over his alleged links with Hizbul Mujahideen militants.
Mehbooba Mufti tweeted, “Waheed Para was arrested by the CIK in Jammu despite getting bail from the special court of NIA after completing the court process.” Under which law and for which crime has this arrest been made? This is contempt of court. Manoj Sinha is requested to intervene so that there is justice. ‘
Despite NIA Court granting bail to @parawahid after thorough court proceedings, he has now been detained by CIK in Jammu. Under what law & for what crime has he been arrested? This is brazen contempt of court. Request @manojsinha_ ji to intervene so that justice is served.

Why was the arrest?
According to officials, Para, who recently won the District Development Council (DDC) election from his hometown of Pulwama district in south Kashmir, was produced in the NIA court. Who granted him bail on a bail amount of one lakh rupees. He was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on 25 November last year. The arrest was made a few days after he filed his nomination papers as a candidate for the Declaration Alliance (PAGD). The NIA had said that Para was arrested in the Navid Babu-Davinder Singh case for conspiring with other accused persons to support the Hizbul Mujahideen. The charge was denied by the PDP and the party termed his arrest as politically motivated.
