The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has passed an ordinance regarding Love Jihad, under which stringent provisions have been made. In view of the Love Jihad ordinance in UP, SP MP from Moradabad called ST Love Hassan a political stunt and asked Muslim boys to treat Hindu girls as their ‘sisters’. Explain that in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Tuesday, the draft of the illegal conversion law ‘Uttar Pradesh Law Against Religion Conversion Prohibition Ordinance-2020’ was approved.

On the approval of the ordinance by the Yogi government to investigate Love Jihad cases, SP MP Hasan said, ‘Love Jihad is a political stunt. People in our country choose their spouse irrespective of their different religion. Hindus marry Muslims and Muslims marry Hindus. However, this number is very small. But if you go to the bottom of ‘Love Jihad’ cases, you will find that girls know that boys were Muslims. But due to social pressure or if there are some internal issues in the family, she says that she did not know that the boy is a Muslim and they call it ‘Love Jihad’.

He said, ‘I advise Muslim boys to treat Hindu girls as their sister. Do not get seduced by anyone. A law has been made, under which you can be subjected to tremendous torture. Save yourself and do not fall in any temptation or love. ‘ Let me tell you that the issue of ‘Love Jihad’ has been on the boil since the death of a 21-year-old student for some time. In October, a stocker and his friend allegedly shot and killed a college student outside the college in Ballabhgarh.

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Siddharth Nath Singh said that the state cabinet has decided to bring an ordinance against ‘illegal’ religious conversion. The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday approved the draft illegal conversion law ‘Uttar Pradesh Laws Against Religion Conversion Prohibition Ordinance-2020’. Under this, the conversion from one religion to another would be illegal by excusing, extortion, deceit, fraud, or by any fraudulent means or by marriage. On doing this, a maximum sentence of 10 years will be given. There will also be a fine of Rs 25 thousand.

What else is there in the ordinance
Under the ordinance, for such marriages in which conversion is to take place, permission has to be obtained from the prescribed authority, DM. For this, the District Magistrate will have to give information in two months in advance. A provision of punishment ranging from six months to three years has been made for violating it. Also, the fine will not be less than 10 thousand rupees.
