Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Thursday that when Sri Lanka and Maldives were in crisis, only India helped them, while other countries were interested in finding business opportunities. He said spirituality is the soul of India. What does India need to do? He has to tell everyone how to live life based on this spirituality through his example.
Addressing an event organized by the RSS-affiliated organization ‘Bharat Vikas Manch’, Bhagwat said that spirituality is the ‘soul of India’. Bhagwat said countries like China, the US and Pakistan paid attention to Sri Lanka when they saw business opportunities there.
Appeal not to eat vengeful food
“But when Sri Lanka is in trouble, who is helping? India only. Who sent water to Maldives when it was facing water crisis? India did this. This is spiritual India. Talking about the all-round development of personality, he said, ‘If you eat wrong (kind of) food, it will take you on the wrong path. One should not eat ‘tamasic’ food.’
The people of India exercise restraint
He said that in India too people eat meat like other parts of the world, but they exercise restraint and follow certain rules while doing so. Bhagwat said, ‘Those who eat non-vegetarian food here, they do not eat meat for the whole month of Shravan. They do not eat meat on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday. They make some rules for themselves.
