‘Rahul Gandhi will become Prime Minister’: Math chief interrupted on the statement of the saint, said – blesses everyone

A Mahant of Lingayat Math predicted about Rahul Gandhi reaching Karnataka and said that he would become the Prime Minister of India. However, soon after this the Chief Mahant of the Math had to intervene. He said that this is not the right place to say all this. Actually Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is currently on Karnataka tour. During this he visited Sri Murugha Math in Chitradurga along with party leaders DK Shivakumar and KC Venugopal. Here he took initiation of the Lingayat sect from the Mahant of Muruga Math. During this, Mahant Haveri Hosamutta Swamy said in the address, “Rahul Gandhi will become the Prime Minister.” Hosamutta Swami mentions Rahul’s grandmother and father. Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi have also been PMs. “Indira Gandhiji was the Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi was the Prime Minister and now Rahul Gandhi has been initiated into the Lingayat sect, he will also become the PM,” Mahant said.

What is Ishtalinga and Shivyoga, about which Rahul Gandhi wants to know more, said in Karnataka – I will benefit

After this statement of Hosamutta Swami, the president of the Math Shivamurthy Murugh Sharanaru defended him. He said that all the people who come to the Math are blessed. The head of the Math immediately intervened and said, “Don’t say all this here… This is not the proper forum for this. People will decide this.” Earlier, the former Congress President was initiated into the Lingayat sect from the Mahant of Muruga Math, located at the district headquarters here.

Many Congress leaders were also present on this occasion. After consulting the Mahants of various monasteries, Mahant Shivamurti Muruga Sharan of Muruga Math initiated Rahul Gandhi into the Lingayat sect. Rahul Gandhi later tweeted, “It is an honor to have visited Shri Jagadguru Murugarajendra Vidyapeeth and took “Ishtalinga Diksha” from Dr.Shri Shivamurthy Muruga Sharananaru.

The influential Lingayat sect was founded by the 12th century social reformer and poet Basaveshwara who has a large following in Karnataka and neighboring states such as Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The current Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai and his predecessor BS Yediyurappa also belong to this sect. This sect is particularly dominant in northern Karnataka.

Lingayat community constitutes about 17 per cent of the population of Karnataka. These have traditionally been BJP voters. In such a situation, Congress leaders are trying to strengthen the party before the assembly elections to be held in the state in May next year. Rahul Gandhi has reached the state on the pretext of attending the 75th birthday celebrations of former Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah. However, only time will tell who the dominant Lingayat community supports in the election this time.
