After Vande Bharat Express, Railways is preparing to run Vande Metro train. This train will operate between short distance railway stations connecting the two cities. This train will operate from select railway stations in Prayagraj, Agra and Jhansi divisions of North Central Railway. The special thing is that the Vande Metro train will run from Kumbh Nagri Prayag to the religious city Kashi. Apart from Prayagraj to Varanasi, there is preparation for its operation from Prayagraj to Pratapgarh, Mirzapur and Kanpur. Vande Metro train is the dream project of this year i.e. 2023-24.
On Friday, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav interacted with the DRMs of all the divisions through video conference. The Railway Minister told the Railway officials that Vande Metro trains will be on track from the next financial year. Start preparing for this in the circles. High speed Vande Metro trains will now run by separating the memo trains, intercity trains running in many cities.
Like intercity trains, it will have only eight to ten coaches. The speed of Vande Metro train will be 120 to 130. It will reach the neighboring districts in a short time passing through nearby stations. Like Metro, it will have automatic doors, LED screens.
According to DRM Mohit Chandra, the Vande Metro train will cover a distance of 100 kilometers or more. It can be operated from Prayagraj to Varanasi, Kanpur to Lucknow and so on for other short distance cities in the circle.
Public facility centers at stations, buy goods
A big market is now being prepared at the railway stations. Under this, public convenience centers will be opened at major stations. According to CPRO Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, every essential item will be provided at these centres.
Along with Prayagraj, passengers will get all the necessary items at railway stations like Kanpur, Aligarh, Khurja, Fatehpur, Prayagraj Chheoki, Mirzapur, Etawah, Tundla, Vindhyachal, Firozabad etc. At present, preparations are on to provide this facility to passengers at 2,000 stations across the country. Preference will be given to local people to open employment opportunities.
