PM Modi commends the people, government of Tamil Nadu for successfully hosting the 44th Chess Olympiad

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday lauded the people and government of Tamil Nadu for being the “excellent” host of the 44th Chess Olympiad. He congratulated the Indian teams for winning the bronze medal in their category. India ‘B’ team won bronze medal in open category while India ‘A’ team also finished third in women’s section.

Modi tweeted, “The people and government of Tamil Nadu have been outstanding hosts of the 44th Chess Olympiad. I would like to commend them for welcoming the world and showcasing our wonderful culture and hospitality. The Indian contingent gave an encouraging performance in the recently concluded 44th Chess Olympiad in Chennai. I congratulate India B team (Men) and India A team (Women) for winning bronze medals. This augurs well for the future of chess in India.

Modi also congratulated the members of the Indian contingent who won individual medals. “These are great players who have shown remarkable grit and perseverance. Wishing him all the best for future competitions.
