Senior BJP leader Basangouda Patil Yatnal on Monday lashed out at the call for not burning firecrackers on Diwali and celebrating eco-friendly Ganeshotsav, saying that along with it, noisy Friday and bloodless goat should be celebrated. Also said that firecrackers should not be burnt even during celebrations on the night of 31 December.
“Hindus gather on Ganeshotsav, Dussehra-Durga Puja and Diwali which come once a year but when the festival comes, we are taught to celebrate eco-friendly Ganeshotsav and burn firecrackers on Diwali,” Yatnal said on Twitter. Yatnal, MLA from Vijayapura, said that along with noise-free Diwali and eco-friendly Ganeshotsav, the night of December 31 should be celebrated without noise-free Friday, bloodless goat and firecrackers.
The former Union Minister said, ‘There should be bloodless goat, firecrackers should not be burnt on the night of 31 December and loudspeakers should not be used on Friday. We will light lamps in our homes and let them offer prayers without speakers. Namaz should not be read on the streets also. Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa on Friday appealed to the public to celebrate Diwali with green firecrackers.
