On whose advice did the Congress set out on a journey of 3500 km? Is Prashant Kishor’s ‘Jodo India’ solution

The party’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ has started under the leadership of former Congress National President Rahul Gandhi. It is being said that through this the party is once again trying to make a strong presence at the national level. Now it is reported that the Congress has decided to take this trip by following the words of election strategist Prashant Kishor. However, nothing has been said about this from both the party and Kishor.

According to Jairam Ramesh, general secretary in-charge of communications of the All India Congress Committee, the party’s interim president Sonia Gandhi had mentioned the Bharat Jodo Yatra during a Chintan Shivir in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Now according to media reports, it is believed that among the measures given by Kishor to the Congress, the talk of padyatra was also included.

one more mention

In April, there was speculation about Kishor joining the Congress. However, the discussions were put to rest by the strategist himself. During that time an 85-page presentation was going on on social media. However, in a conversation with The Indian Express, Kishor had called it an “old/fake presentation” and said, “It has nothing to do with the ongoing discussion.”

According to the report, it was said in the presentation that since 2014, the party has not organized any agitation or protest at the national level, which lasted more than 24 hours. The last time the late Rajiv Gandhi organized a visit to India was in the year 1990.

Even in the National Herald case, Congress’s ruckus on the streets

The special thing is that in June, when Rahul was called for questioning in a money laundering case related to the National Herald newspaper, Congress leaders and activists protested fiercely in many parts of the country including Delhi. After this, the same scene was seen during the interrogation of Sonia Gandhi.

During the Independence Day, the party took out the Azadi Gaurav Yatra. Earlier, the party had also protested fiercely on the issue of rising prices and unemployment. During that time many big leaders including Rahul, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were seen in black clothes.

Why did the Congress choose the path of travel?

It is believed that the Congress feels that yatras are helpful for political parties. Examples include Mahatma Gandhi’s Dandi March, former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar’s padyatra from Kanyakumari to Rajghat, former PM Rajiv Gandhi’s India visit in 1990, BJP leader LK Advani’s Rath Yatra and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s padyatra in 2017.

Kishor had given this advice to Congress

It is reported that some advice was given to the Congress on behalf of Kishor. It was said that the party would have to end the leadership crisis. At the same time, the issue of alliance will also need to be resolved. Apart from this, the party will have to return to its old ideals. The election strategist had advised that the party must mobilize its leaders and workers at the grassroots level and also improve the communication system.
