Now ‘Fertilizer Jihad’ will end, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s new announcement;  what is this new jihad

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that he will end the Fertilizer Jihad from the state. Pointing out the adverse health effects of excessive use of fertilizers, Sarma stressed on natural and organic farming. He was speaking at the inauguration of Prakritik Kheti Sammelan at Shrimant Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati.

In his address, the Chief Minister said, “When we started ruling Assam, we had mentioned that there has been an increase in fatal diseases like heart disease, kidney disease due to the use of bad fertilizers. Told that we will remove the Fertilizer Jihad.

CM Sarma said, “Last year I and Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi had several meetings, where PM suggested to increase organic farming in Assam. Recently we saw in the documentary that our land has so much potential that if we If we try to use it efficiently, we will not need any urea, phosphate, nitrogen etc.”

The Chief Minister said that the Honorable Governor of Gujarat Acharya Devvrat explained logically that natural farming is healthier than fertilizer farming and also gives more yield to the farmers. The Chief Minister further said that the use of substandard fertilizers was adversely affecting the health of the people. He called upon the people to adopt natural farming.

The CM said, “We should use fertilizer but avoid using too much of it as it affects health.” He said that if natural farming produces more on the same plot of land where crops are sown with fertilizers, then I believe there is no alternative to natural farming.
