Norway is unable to make ammunition due to Tiktok, what is the ‘cat video’ connection

Now there is news that another European country Norway is also troubled by Tiktok. Due to Tiktok, Norway’s defense firm is not even able to make ammunition.

According to a report in the Financial Times, a Norwegian defense company has said that it is unable to expand its factory and manufacture ammunition. The firm says it has a data center in the central Norway region that is using all of the electricity in that area. The main client of this data center is Tiktok.

It told the Financial Times, a UK newspaper, that there was almost no electricity left for its Raufoss plant. The company had planned to expand the ammunition factory here. The company’s chief executive officer (CEO) Morten Brantzeg lashed out at TikTok, saying, “We are extremely concerned. We see that storing videos of cats is threatening our future growth.” In fact, his target was towards cat videos trading on Tiktok. He says that data centers are used to store similar videos.

Talking about defense firm Nammo, it has got a huge demand for ammunition due to the war in Ukraine. 6,000 rounds are being used every day in the war. But the company is not able to fulfill it. Brantzeg said European arms manufacturers need to invest 2 billion euros (Rs 1,787.5 crore) to meet demand from Ukraine, but have been unable to do so.

Tiktok is becoming a hindrance

Local electricity provider Elvia confirmed the development, saying it did not have spare power. Power is allotted on a first come, first served basis. TikTok is building three data centers in Norway this year, and plans to add two more by 2025.
