Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the country’s general budget for the fifth consecutive time. She is the sixth Finance Minister of the country to hold this record. During this, he announced several schemes including Shri Anna Yojana, PM Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Scheme. He also stressed on promoting electric vehicles in the budget. However, while presenting the budget, he also made a minor mistake, due to which the atmosphere of the Parliament lightened for a moment and all the MPs started laughing. In fact, while announcing the incentive in the scrapping policy, the Finance Minister said that all the vehicles will be removed. All the MPs started laughing at this and the Finance Minister corrected himself.

When the Finance Minister was talking about the removal of polluting vehicles, she mistakenly referred to all vehicles. Only then the opposition MP drew attention, after which everyone laughed. Sitharaman immediately read that line again, correcting it. The Finance Minister said that more funds will be allocated for scrapping of vehicles. Will promote the use of electric vehicles. He said that people would also be given benefits under the scrapping policy on old vehicles. He also mentioned the concept of green growth in the budget.

A fund of Rs 2.4 lakh crore has been released for the Railways in the budget. A fund of Rs 75,000 crore will be allocated for the new schemes of the Railways. 100 new important schemes will be started in the railways. The Finance Minister has laid special emphasis on digitization in this budget. He said that we will promote the use of DigiLocker. Apart from this, KYC will be made easier. He said that National Digital Library will be established. Apart from this, there will be emphasis on setting up separate libraries at the state level as well.
