NIA and local police in Madhya Pradesh’s Seoni have detained two persons for questioning after a raid and some incriminating material and electronic devices were allegedly seized from them. An officer gave this information on Sunday. Those taken into custody include the names of Abdul Aziz and Shoaib Khan. Three people were taken into custody in this case. One person was released after questioning.
Seoni District Superintendent of Police Ramji Srivastava said that the premises of three people were raided on Saturday, after which two people were taken to Jabalpur for questioning. “After preliminary interrogation, the NIA team has taken two suspects — Abdul Aziz Salfi (40) and Shoaib Khan (27) — to Jabalpur with them,” he said. Another Akram Khan (28) has been released by the NIA after questioning.
Srivastava said that during the investigation in connection with the case registered at NIA’s Delhi headquarters, on receiving information about suspicious and illegal activities in Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh, the NIA team had reached Seoni headquarters on Saturday to investigate. He said that the NIA team is probing the case registered in Delhi under sections 121, 121A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) besides sections 18, 38, 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Srivastava said that the NIA team has recovered some electronic devices, hard disk and objectionable literature from the spot, which have been duly seized. Akram Khan, the third person detained in this case, was released after questioning.
