Trailing 0-1 in the three-match series, India will now face the visiting team in Lucknow on Sunday. Chasing the target, India lost three quick wickets. Vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav and captain Hardik Pandya played fighting innings, but could not win the team. Washington Sundar came in the end and played a blistering half-century, but he could not get support from the other end. Here we are going to tell you about five reasons for India’s defeat.
Runs looted in powerplay
The bowlers of the Indian team, who invited New Zealand to bat first, bowled poorly in the powerplay. In the first four overs, the Kiwi team had scored 37 runs. Although Washington returned to the match by taking two wickets in the same over, but even after that the Indian bowlers continued to bowl poorly, taking advantage of which New Zealand managed to increase their scoreboard.
Fast bowlers disappointed
The performance of the fast bowlers of the Indian team has been disappointing. The pacer of the team took two wickets for 119 runs in 10 overs. All the fast bowlers proved to be expensive. Captain Hardik Pandya gave 33 runs in three overs. Arshdeep Singh took one wicket and spent 51 runs in 4 overs. Umran gave 16 runs in one over, while Mavi took one wicket for 19 runs in 2 overs.
Arshdeep became the villain
Arshdeep Singh bowled the last over of New Zealand’s innings and in the same over New Zealand made a strong hold in the match. Arshdeep spent a total of 27 runs in the last over with a no-ball. Daryl Mitchell collects 23 runs in the first three balls of the over. During this, he also hit three sixes.
India’s top order collapses
Chasing the target of 177 runs, the Indian team got off to a very poor start. Team openers Shubman Gill and Ishaan Kishan returned to the pavilion cheaply. However, in the second innings, the spinners were getting more spin and bounce from the pitch, due to which the Indian batsmen had to face difficulties. The team had lost three wickets inside the powerplay itself.
