National Conference claims – Farooq Abdullah has been placed under house arrest, police said – Fake News

The National Conference (NC) claimed that former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has been placed under house arrest, but the police has denied this claim. The NC said its president Farooq Abdullah was placed under house arrest hours after he presided over a meeting at the party headquarters on the third anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370.

The NC tweeted on its official handle, “Dr. Farooq Abdullah has been placed under house arrest after returning from Nawai-Subha, where he had earlier presided over a meeting and said ‘We are illegal on August 5, 2019’ We will fight peacefully for our rights that have been snatched away from us unconstitutionally and undemocratic.”

NC Vice President Omar Abdullah had also confirmed that a truck was kept outside his house, where both Omar Abdullah and Farooq Abdullah live. He tweeted and said, “Looks like they must have had to keep this truck outside the gate under some compulsion. This is a foolish act. Completely illegal. He went to office, went to offer Namaz, went to mourn, meanwhile the truck arrived, because he had no other place to go today. Idiot!”

At the same time, police spokesperson says, “There is a fake news going on that some NC and PDP leaders have been placed under house arrest in Gupkar Road. This news is completely baseless.” “In view of some inputs about the terrorist attack, additional security personnel were deployed at some places on Gupkar Road,” a police spokesperson said.

Police said, “Mehbooba Mufti visited her party headquarters in the afternoon and Dr. Farooq Abdullah visited Hazratbal Dargah and his friend in Shalimar in the afternoon. Media friends are advised to verify the news with the authorities before broadcasting to (them). JKP is a fully professional police force and is well aware of its duties.”

The police spokesperson also posted fresh pictures outside the residences of Abdullah and Mufti, which did not show the presence of security vehicles.
