Mamta Banerjee meets PM Modi, talks on many issues including GST arrears

He has been made an accused in the education recruitment scam.

Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee met PM Narendra Modi on Friday. Mamta is on a four-day visit to Delhi. She will also meet the newly elected President Draupadi Murmu on Friday evening. Mamata Banerjee’s visit comes in the midst of a major controversy as the ED has recently arrested a stalwart minister in the Mamata government and senior TMC leader Partha Chatterjee in the teacher recruitment scam. After this incident, the Mamta government accused the central government of misusing the agency’s powers.

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata, who did not attend the Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog last year, is likely to attend the meeting on 7 August this time. PM Modi will preside over this meeting.

A day earlier, the Trinamool Congress supremo met MPs from his party and discussed with them the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament and the road ahead for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
