The single bench had made this observation in the 2012 judgment on the entry tax issue in respect of luxury car imports.
The bench allowed the actor’s plea seeking removal of the remarks made against him in the July 8, 2021 judgment of Justice SM Subramaniam in the Rolls Royce car import case.
A bench of Justice Pushpa Satyanarayana and Justice Mohammad Shafiq said in the order, “Some derogatory remarks were made in the order of the Single Judge. This appears to be undesirable as there is uncertainty in the state law regarding the entry fee and there is a difference of opinion not only in the High Courts but also in the Supreme Court. Therefore, implicating the petitioner with intent or taking legal action or under Article 226 in the Constitution. Incitement to exercise the right obtained is unjustified.
