New excise policy has been announced in UP. Due to the new policy, the drunkards will have to loose their pockets. There will be an increase in the prices of all country, English and beer. There will be an increase of five rupees in desi, 10 rupees in English and 5 to 7 rupees in beer. The new rates will be applicable from the financial year starting April. Along with this, policies on allotment from model shops to liquor shops have also been announced. The new excise policy of the state for the next financial year 2023-24 was approved in the cabinet meeting on Saturday.

According to this new policy, the license fee of retail liquor and beer vendors in the state will be increased by ten percent. Apart from this, an annual fee of Rs 2 lakh was to be paid till now for serving liquor at the model shop, which has been increased to Rs 3 lakh.

Accordingly, it is being estimated that from April 1st, the price of 200 ml of country liquor with 25 percent strength will increase from Rs. 50 to Rs. 55 and 200 ml of 36 percent strength will cost Rs. 70 instead of Rs. 65. Rupees and a 200 ml pauva of 42.8 percent intensity country liquor made from rotten grains will be sold for Rs.80 instead of Rs.75.

Similarly, there may be an increase of about Rs 10 in a quarter in the popular brand of English liquor. An increase of Rs 5 to 7 per can is also possible in the prices of beer. To run liquor and beer retail shops in the next financial year, the vendors will have to sell 10 percent more liquor.

In the new policy, the minimum guaranteed quota of country liquor has been increased by ten percent. Fees have been increased for the license of hotels and restaurants and clubs and bars located in the jurisdiction area of ​​Gautam Budh Nagar, Lucknow and Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation area and within five kilometer radius from the same perimeter, whether in urban or rural areas. That means liquor and beer will become more expensive in these areas.

Earlier in June, the rates of liquor were increased. Special Additional Return Duty i.e. Special Exercise Duty was imposed on English liquor. In this, 90 ml bottles of English liquor of different quality were increased from Rs 10 to Rs 40 respectively.

Rs 10 on regular 90 ml bottle, Rs 10 on premium brand 90 ml bottle, Rs 20 on super premium 90 ml bottle, Rs 30 on 90 ml bottle of Scotch, foreign liquor imported from overseas The 90 ml bottle was increased by Rs 40. The hike was done only on bottles of 90 ml quantity. There was no price increase on quarters, halves and full bottles of English ale.
