Layer of pollution over Delhi NCR, air quality index reached in ‘severe’ category in Noida

It is being advised to avoid walking in the morning. To deal with this, the third phase of GRAP has also been implemented. According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was recorded in the 354 (very poor) category on Wednesday.

The air quality is also very poor in Noida where the AQI was recorded at 406 i.e. in the severe category. In Gurugram too, the situation is not good and the AQI here was found to be 346 i.e. in the ‘very poor’ category. The overall AQI of Delhi remains in the very poor category of 354. Near Delhi airport it was rated 350 in the ‘very poor’ category.

Construction ignoring Gurugram rules

The city’s AQI was recorded at 390 on Tuesday. In view of the increasing level of pollution, the third phase of GRAP has been implemented. Despite this, the restricted work was going on in the city bypassing the rules. The construction work of buildings was going on in more than half a dozen plots of Krishna Colony area.

Various weather factors and stubble smoke have polluted the air of Delhi very fast. This time in the second week of October, most parts of North India received good rains due to the combination of a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal and a Western Disturbance.

This rain also had a significant impact on the air quality. Even on October 10, Delhi’s air quality index stood at 44. The air at this level is classified as good. The air of Delhi was the cleanest on this day. But, within just seventeen days, on November 1, Delhi’s air quality index reached a mark of 424. That is, an increase of about ten times.

The share of stubble remained fourteen percent, the share of stubble smoke in Delhi’s pollution was 14 percent on Tuesday. Due to stubble smoke, a layer of pollution is covered over the atmosphere of Delhi. It can be clearly seen with fog especially in the morning and evening. Earlier, on Monday, the share stood at 22 per cent.

In three months, more than 68 thousand challans have been intensified by the Transport Department on vehicles that do not conduct pollution checks in the capital. Its effect is also visible. The number of vehicles undergoing PUC verification in Delhi has increased. Since August till now, challans of 68 thousand 500 vehicles that have not got PUC check have been cut.

There is no control over air pollution in Ghaziabad. The air quality on Tuesday was recorded in the very poor category. Loni remains the most polluted area of ​​the district. The district administration sealed the illegal factory making plastic pellets in Rupnagar industrial area. Plastic waste was being burnt here.

Faridabad second most polluted city

According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the AQI of Faridabad was recorded at 403. On Tuesday, Faridabad was the second most polluted city in the country. Due to this people are facing problems.

Through the breath, the contaminated microscopic particles are reaching the delicate parts of the body through the lungs. Due to this, serious diseases related to heart, diabetes and respiratory system are happening all over the world.

22.5% PM 2.5 particles in the air

According to the Union Ministry of Earth Sciences, the total amount of PM 2.5 particles in the air of the capital on Monday was 22 percent, while on Sunday it was 26 percent. This is the highest level of PM 2.5 this year.
