Khalistan supporter Amritpal’s second video surfaced, refused to surrender

Another video of Khalistani supporter Amritpal Singh has surfaced on Thursday. In this he has claimed that he will not surrender. Punjab Police is searching for Amritpal since last 13 days. Apart from Punjab, he has been seen in many places including UP, Delhi, but is still away from the grip of police and central agencies. Amritpal has released this second video on youtube channel.

Earlier there were intelligence inputs that Amritpal may surrender at Akal Takht at Golden Temple in Amritsar, Takht Damdama Sahib in Bathinda or Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib at Anandpur Sahib in Rupnagar district before the eve of Baisakhi. Sources had told that he is desperate to enter Amritpal for the last 48 hours. Amritpal stayed at the Jalandhar Dera and used its vehicles to try to enter Amritsar. However, now in the new video he has refused to surrender.

Amritpal’s audio clip also surfaced

Before the second video surfaced, a purported audio clip of Amritpal Singh also surfaced on Thursday, in which he is heard dismissing speculation about his surrender being negotiated and again asking the Akal Takht to convene the Sarbat Khalsa. This comes a day after a purported video surfaced on social media of a pro-Khalistan preacher asking the Jathedar, the apex body of Sikhs, to convene a conference to discuss issues related to the community. “I have requested the Jathedar to call Sarbat Khalsa. Call Sarbat Khalsa and prove that you are the Jathedar,” he said in the new audio clip.

Putting pressure on the Sikh body, he said, “If we are going to do politics even today, doing the same things we used to do earlier, then what is the point of being a Jathedar in the future.” She called for “unity” from Sikh bodies, saying, “We must understand that today is the time for the entire community to come together.” In the video clip as well, he tried to argue that the issue was not just his arrest, but also the larger concerns of the Sikh community. Meanwhile, the Punjab government has informed the Akal Takht that almost all those detained during the crackdown against Amritpal Singh and his ‘Waris Punjab De’ organization have now been released.

There was no immediate comment by police on the authenticity of the nearly two-minute audio clip, in which the pro-Khalistan preacher is heard accusing the government of “harassment”. He said, “But I am not scared and I am not afraid of going to jail or being tortured in police custody. Let them do what they want to do.” Amritpal also referred to media reports that he had put conditions for his surrender, including that he should not be tortured. The fugitive said that he had not spoken to anyone about the offer of arrest and that no conditions had been placed by him.
